Well, first of all, the story itself is pretty interesting. The timing of servicemen and women preventing bullying shortly after the repeal of DADT is most likely no coincidence. But it is still a good thing to see out of the men and women of our military.
This news story is about the proper length for its genre. It is a simple story, that doesn't need to be drug out, but the writer did give many details. It appears that the writer was there, and is writing off of notes that she took. One thing that I personally would have done is added more detail about the program. Go into more details about why the servicemen and women are participating, and what they personally hope to see come from it.
This would have involved more interviews. While the writer did a good job of interviewing multiple people, I would have liked to see more interviews. She interviewed one student, two service members, and the principal. I think that more interviews from these people, and possible parent interviews would have made this story even better.
